School Lunch

Hot Lunch

Our hot school lunches are provided by St James Church School, they are freshly cooked each day and delivered from their local kitchen. The meals are nutritionally balanced and prepared in accordance with the School Food Plan. The menu rotates over a 3-week period.

As part of the government-funded Universal Free School Meal scheme, all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes are entitled to a school meal free of charge while meals can be purchased for Key Stage 2 children. Meals are ordered in advance online through ParentMail, our booking and payment system. If you need any assistance, please contact the school office.

Key Stage 2 children are invited to book a hot school lunch. This can be done through ParentMail. Please note that bookings for lunches must be made by the end of the previous term.  School lunches for Key Stage 2 children are £2.80 per meal. Payment is required at the time of booking.

Once your child has started school, you will receive an email with your log on details to ParentMail. Alternatively, children can bring a packed lunch.

Our current menu for this term can be viewed below;

Packed Lunches

We encourage the children to eat healthily as the right kind of food will help the brain to learn and the body to feel energetic. A suggested packed lunch would contain a sandwich/pasta, two pieces of fruit and a yoghurt. Water is always available for all children during lunchtime, or they can bring their own drink. Lunchtime is seen as an important social activity in our school. If your child is bringing packed lunches, please send these in a sealed, named box (no large flasks, tinned drinks, or glass bottles please). Sweets and chocolate are not encouraged.

In the School Starter Pack you will find the universal infant free school meals and pupil premium form – please complete this form, even if do not you want your child to have school meals. It is important that we receive a completed form for every child, as the form enables us to ensure that we will receive the correct funding to support our pupils and for our hot meal provision.

Mid-Morning Snack

Each morning, children have the opportunity to eat some fresh/dried fruit and have a drink during morning break. This snack should be sent into school in a named container.  No biscuits, cereal bars, chocolate or cake please.

Children in EYFS and Years 1/2 will are provided with a piece of fruit in school, however they may bring their own snack if they prefer.

Drinks in School

We ask that all children bring water to school in a named plastic bottles or plastic flasks. For reasons of safety, glass bottles or containers should not be brought to school.

The School Milk subsidy scheme is available for all children aged under five. In our school, this milk is provided by Cool Milk. If your child is aged under 5 we will register your child for their free school milk on your behalf by providing Cool Milk with your child’s name and date of birth.

Once your child is aged five or over, you have the option to pay a subsidised rate for your child to receive milk in school. Please complete the Cool Milk order form. If you wish to order milk for a child aged 5 or over, please detach the form and send it direct to Cool Milk.
